Yak Skiing

The fun and exciting sport yak skiing was created by Tibetan, Peter Dorje. If you happen to be traveling around India, make a pit stop in Manali, India, just about two hours from Delhi, and try out this new sport. You may be wondering how this works. In yak skiing, you stand at the bottom of a large slope wearing skis and attached to a rope. On the other side of the rope is a domesticated yak. When ready, the skier, who is holding a bucket of pony nuts, shakes the bucket in front of the yak. In an attempt to get the nuts, the yak catapults itself up the hill at an unbelievable fast speed. Pony nuts are a yak’s favorite treat and very little will stop them from retrieving the nuts. Naturally this activity is appropriate for families with children, because domesticated animals are involved so the children are not to be harmed. Besides that, who wouldn’t want to be catapulted up a hill along side and at the mercy of an animal that ways over a ton?
